Using a swarm of disk-shaped robots to move a large hexagonal object

The SwarmControl.net project aims to understand the best ways to control a swarm of robots by a human. The project achieves this through a community of game-developed experts.

The project is continuously changed to promote the creation of experts and to become the most effective exploration tool. To achieve this, the project continuously gathers and analyzes data.

Human direction of multi-robot systems is difficult, especially when the individual robots have limited autonomy. We present a survey of several control techniques for directing swarms, and compare their efficacy under several different task scenarios, including manipulating a swarm, manipulating objects through a maze, and assembling objects.
